In A Life in the Theatre, Sir Tyrone Guthrie says, "I believe that the purpose of the theatre is to show mankind to himself and thereby to show to man God's image. It (live theatre) will survive as long as mankind demands to be amused, terrified, instructed, shocked, corrupted and delighted by tales told in a manner which will always remain mankind's most vivid and powerful manner of telling a story."

The Lord has given each of us a body and a voice. These are the artist's tools of theatre. At Belhaven we learn to respect those tools, maintain them and honor the Lord with our unique contributions. Join us for Arts Discover Day and celebrate through workshops, classes, auditions, and performance, what the Lord has given you in tools, talent, inspiration and presentation. The uniqueness of Theatre at Belhaven is that we take seriously the issue of what is presented in the context of why it is offered and to whom.

Come join us for a better understanding of what that means to the 21st Century theatre artist.

Registration will open for this event 6 weeks in advance.

"I'm glad I chose to attend Belhaven because the faculty has helped and encouraged me to develop my skills while branching into other areas of theatre besides performance. Upon graduating, I will have a well-rounded education rooted in the principles of how to be a faithful steward of the artistic abilities God has given me."

Julia Polson

"Belhaven places such a high emphasis and appreciation for the arts that is rare to find in other schools. The fifth-year free promise for double majors is an added perk that I knew I wanted to take advantage of and allows me to pursue other interests. Because of my degree from Belhaven I feel prepared to take on a career in the arts while focusing on my values."

Mandi Redmond

Beth Fortner

“My time at Belhaven has been so special! I am so thankful for all the wonderful people I have met and all the lessons I have learned!”

Beth Fortner

"I chose to come to Belhaven because I felt that God was leading me here. I knew that it was important to build a strong Christian foundation, especially when pursuing an arts degree. There were other schools with great Theatre departments, but Belhaven was a school that I could grow in my craft to a high degree while fostering and building upon the commitment I have to Christ. I feel that I will be prepared and equipped for whatever opportunities come my way in the future."

Dawson Broussard

Hannah Albano

"The fifth-year free promise is great for me as a double major. It gives me the time to focus on each of my majors and succeed in both without having to worry about having to finish in four years."

Ana Brock

Madeline Bennett

"The community at Belhaven is amazing. The arts program at Belhaven is thriving. I do not think I would have the same opportunities if I had attended a different college."

Madeline Bennett

"I came to Belhaven because there is an energy here that is very different from any other liberal arts or Christian university. The people here value educating students to be excellent in their craft as well as their character. Because of my theatre degree from Belhaven, I feel it is possible to be a thriving professional in the arts without compromising my faith in Christ."

Jenna Kahley

"I chose to attend Belhaven because of it's Christian worldview and has separate dance and theatre departments and would allow me to double major. My fellow students are not only my close friends, but also my biggest supporters and collaborators. I feel confident in pursuing my goals as a professional performer and choreographer. I am being equipped and encouraged every semester!"

Liz Morales

Lamana Stringfellow

"When I came here, I was struck by the loving community that Belhaven offered and encouraged. I was able to pursue my love of art within multiple forms of expression and cultivate a love of God through them. My experience here has been very encouraging."
