Back to Belhaven – Homecoming 2013
Alumni & Family Weekend,
The Annual Belhaven University Homecoming and Family Weekend had a great turnout and was full of exciting events for alumni, students, parents and families.
On Saturday, the 9th Annual Homecoming 5k Run/Walk had a good turn out of early risers who were ready to compete. Haley Rogers won the women's 5k with a time of 25:11 and John Lane won the men's 5k with a time of 19:02.
During the Alumni Awards Luncheon, the Class of 1963 was inducted into the Fifty Year Club. Dr. Rob Waltzer, Dr. Geoffrey Goldsmith, Dr. Paul Waibel were recognized as our newest Legacy of Learning faculty members. Larry and Sally Mills '61 were given the award of Alumni of the Year. The Church Service Award was given to Danny Massie '68. The Bettye Quinn Education Award honored Lois Hayes '67 for her work in education. Dan Marks '98 was presented with the Jim Park Business Award and the Spirit of Belhaven Award was given to Virginia Morris '67.
Before the Saturday Homecoming game, alumni, students, and friends enjoyed a tailgate party and then went on the cheer on our football team. The Blazers squared-off against top NAIA team Lindsay Wilson. During halftime, the Homecoming Queen and King were crowned. Megan Driscoll and Will Monsour were crowned the Belhaven homecoming queen and king this year.
Homecoming was a fun and inspiring weekend for the Belhaven family to reconnect and remember. If you couldn't make it this year, we hope that you'll make plans for next years homecoming celebration.
