Success Mentor Program
The Success Mentor Program is coordinated through the Office of Student Success and is designed to provide institutional support to incoming students who meet specific admission requirements indicating participation would be beneficial. Belhaven believes that students are better equipped for success when they have structured support from knowledgeable sources – and our staff and faculty are the best sources on campus. Students who qualify for the Success Mentor Program are identified through the admission process and will be contacted by the Office of Student Success. Students will then be matched with a Success Mentor, who will make initial contact over the summer and prior to classes beginning in August. During Welcome Week (new student orientation), mentees and mentors have an opportunity to meet during the Success Mentor Kickoff Dinner in order to make initial plans for the semester. Staff and faculty mentors are volunteers who have a heart for Belhaven students. These mentors are a wealth of wisdom, resources, and information. Students participate in the Success Mentor Program during their entire first year at Belhaven.
If you qualify for participation in the Success Mentor Program, you will soon be hearing from Marcie Beam, Student Retention Specialist. Marcie will be providing student participants with all the needed information to start the Success Mentor Program. Anyone with questions about this program can contact Marcie at firstname.lastname@example.org or 601-968-8744.
