Ceremony starts at 7:00 pm, graduates must check in by 5:00 pm.

Regalia:  Regalia will be available for students to pick up at the Park Row campus.  Students will be notified by email when regalia arrives.

Seating information:  Please let us know if special seating or handicap seating is required.

Commencement Speaker:  Pastor Walter August

Born on January 28, 1959, raised in Abbeville, Louisiana, after graduating high school, Walter August Jr joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served through 1983. Thereafter, he joined First City Bank Corporate Security Group, where he trained in Professional Management. Advancing in positions to Specialist, then Director of Security, with LaSalle Partners Asset Management Company. Also at First City bank, is where Pastor August met his wife, of over 30 years, Mrs. Ruby August.

In 1992, Pastor August professed his calling to the ministry of the Gospel. In 1994, Pastor August organized and founded Bethel’s Family Baptist Church. Thereafter, Founded Bethel’s Heavenly Hands, a food distribution pantry. Founded Bethel’s Place, Inc., a community empowerment organization supporting job training, job placement, GED prep and testing, after school programing, and vocational training.  Serving many years as a missional pastor, Pastor August was led to launch seven churches and over 58 ministries through Bethel’s Family. While his hands remain full, Pastor August still makes global missions a priority. Traveling to various regions doing evangelism training, medical clinics, and developing church leadership teams.

After attending Southwestern Theological Seminary Houston, TX, Pastor August received an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Saint Thomas Christian College. Pastor August has served on the board of Baptist Church Loan Corporation of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He has published a book: Embracing Bootstrap Leadership, an in-depth guide on Christ-centered leadership, released in 2014. In 2016 Pastor August was inaugurated as, President of the African American Pastors’ Fellowship of Houston. A family man, Pastor August cherishes his wife, Ruby, mentioned above, and their three sons and grandchildren:
