Fact: I won an oreo stacking contest when I was 8. I received $150!
I chose to come to Belhaven... for two reasons. First off, the professors for the dance department are phenomenal at what they do and are incredible people. They are truly interested in the everyday well-being of their students and their futures. Also, the campus thrives off of things that I value most in my life: community, accountability, relationships, and growth!
One relationship that has meant more to me than I can even describe... is between me and Ms. JoBeth Petty. I've had the privilege to serve on the Belhaven Leadership Council this year and fortunately had someone like JoBeth pouring into me the entire time. She has served as so many things to me this year: a leader, boss, mentor, and friend. She's the type of person everyone desires to have in their life. I know the Lord has specifically used her to speak greatly into my life. I'm so thankful for her!
Because of my degree from Belhaven University... I can dance with a variety of companies: The staff brings in professionals from all over to allow relationships to build and job offers sometimes follow. I've already seen fruit from these relationships and have been able to guest teach for Project Dance NYC, help organize with Randall Flinn for the Dance Ad Deum's Summer Dance Intensive, and perform at the American College Dance Festival Association in Akron, Ohio. The best part about my degree is it allows me to continue my education and receive my Masters degree so that I can give back to the collegiate dance community. My degree can take me anywhere, Belhaven has prepared me so well!
One word to describe my experience at Belhaven: Growth
