Hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, Mandy Mangrum began studying harp in 2002. The same year, she participated in the Louisiana Harp Rally and received first place and the “Outstanding Musician” award. Mandy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Performance from Louisiana State University and a Master’s degree in Music Performance with a concentration on harp and a minor in Music Education at the University of North Texas, where she studied with Dr. Jaymee Haefner. While at UNT, Mandy performed with the Symphony Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, and Harp Ensemble. Mandy also spent a semester working with Dr. Kris Chesky, researching Music Therapy and the use of the harp in music therapy.
Mandy has performed in Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Texas. She has performed with Country Music superstar Tim McGraw and performed for the First Lady of Texas, Anita Perry. She has also performed the National Anthem for the Mississippi Braves. Mandy is glad to be back home in Mississippi, teaching private lessons, performing with the Mississippi Symphony, and playing for weddings, receptions, parties, and other special events.
