Kent Mummert has been married since 1979 and a father since 1986. In addition to teaching, he has been a Mississippi Blood Services platelet donor since 1976. Active in his church, Mr. Mummert serves as a Senior Adult Life Group teacher. He holds a Shotokan karate black belt. Mr. Mummert's interests and hobbies include drawing, photography, typography, papermaking, printmaking, and book design.

Since 1991, Mr. Mummert has been a freelance graphic designer dba RiverWorks. His prior teaching experience includes being an adjunct Instructor at Mississippi College’s Department of Art, teaching graphic design and related subjects, and an adjunct Instructor at Mississippi College’s Department of Kinesiology, teaching Beginner and Advanced Karate.

Plutarch stated, “The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled.” With that in mind, Mr. Mummert’s goal is to kindle a fire within students rather than light one under them.
