Hometown: I’m originally from Fort Collins, Colorado, but I grew up overseas between Kyrgyzstan and Wales.
Degree: BA in Visual Art, Belhaven University
Hobbies: I love creating, whether it’s writing stories, drawing or painting, or modifying a recipe. I love putting on an audiobook/podcast or music while creating too. If I could, I would travel all the time, so I’ve normally got some plan for trip in the works, even if it’s just a plan, for now. I also find a lot of joy hanging out with my friends and family, particularly my nephews.
What do you do in the Office of Admission?
I am the first person you see when you come to the Admission office! I love greeting all the different faces and connecting you with your admission counselors. I also answer a lot of phone calls and emails and help in the Admission process wherever I can.
What is your perception of academic quality at Belhaven University?
As a former student, I know the care and pains Belhaven takes to give a solid foundation, both academic and spiritual, for every student who studies here. I was encouraged and pushed by professors who genuinely cared about my success. I grew so much in my time at Belhaven.
What do you like most about Belhaven?
As someone who grew up overseas, the first thing that stood out to me about Belhaven is its emphasis on community. The professors that pour into you as a student, and the people around you who see and cheer you on, that really made me feel connected to the campus. I also appreciate Belhaven’s artistic flair and emphasis on a Christian Worldview.
What is your favorite place on campus and Why?
My favorite place on campus is the little walking path behind Bitsy Irby that goes past Lakeview pond. There’s almost always a breeze and it’s a lovely walk.
What advice would you give to your incoming students?
Join the activities early on to try to connect with the people around you, there’s nothing like bonding over silly shenanigans. Also, start talking with your professors when you have questions, that way if you feel like you are struggling, you’ve already begun a relationship and they can help you sooner than later.
