Saturday, April 12, the Belhaven Art Department will honor two senior students, and formally unveil the newest addition to the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center.
The Rotunda Chandelier, a 10 foot high light sculpture, contains 16 glass panels representing the different artistic disciplines of dance, theater, music and visual arts. This impressive glass structure is suspended 25 feet above the central stairway and designed by Andrew Cary Young of Pearl River Glass Studio, in collaboration with Belhaven art majors: Jamie Bolton, Lee Cason, Chris Morrow and Susanna Oldfield.
Cason, who is featured alongside Tiffany Weston in the Senior Exhibition, worked with Young in crafting each of the panels that make up the chandelier.
The Senior Exhibition Opening Reception and Rotunda Chandelier Dedication is April 12, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center. Belhaven’s Classical Guitar Ensemble will perform.
Lee Cason and Tiffany Weston’s exhibition will continue through April 30, 2008 in the Gallery.
