March 10, 2008 (Jackson, Miss.) – The Belhaven Music Department presents, “An Evening of Diamonds IV,” part of the Preston Chamber Music Series.
Dr. Andrew Mark Sauerwein, composer, introduces an evening of evocative, sacred works, featuring his musical-visual collaboration entitled, A Resurrection Series: Nine Movements after Drawings, by Randall Speck. Together with a 16 piece chamber orchestra, the concert will highlight Sauerwein’s composition, which first premiered in 2002, along with Speck’s drawings of the face of Christ at the Crucifixion and Resurrection.
The images will be projected throughout the concert as an artistic representation of this liturgical piece, while interspersing scripture reading with voice solos and congregational hymns, promising to make “An Evening of Diamonds IV,” a worshipful, meditative evening of music and reflection during this Easter season.
The concert will be Thursday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall, located on Riverside Drive in Jackson. Tickets are available for $10 through the Belhaven Music Department. Doors open at 7 p.m. Reception to follow.
