May 8, 2009-Five creative arts. Four days. Three CEU credits. From June 22-25, Belhaven College offers educators the opportunity to earn credit towards renewing their teaching licenses with a four-day workshop on integrating creative arts to promote literacy. With collaboration between the School of Education and the Departments of Creative Writing, Dance, Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts, this workshop provides expert instructors in each field.
The purpose of each session is to give practical applications for integrating creative arts to enhance literacy among students. Participants will complete lessons and units infused with creative arts and literacy, and faculty presenters from each discipline will cover topics that include:
- Literacy and Poetry
- Creative Explorations with Movement and Dance
- Literacy and Music
- Literacy and Visual Arts
- Literacy and Drama
