March 7, 2011: Two Belhaven University art majors won awards at the 2011 Mississippi Collegiate Art Exhibition held at Mississippi University for Women. Mikael Jury, a sophomore from Georgia, placed in metal arts for his piece “Age of Envy” and Megan Prosper, a senior from Arkansas, placed in sculpture for her piece titled “Gathering.”
The exhibition was jurored by Heather Deyling who teaches foundation studies at Savannah College of Art and design. “I was impressed with the quality of work. It was difficult to nail it down from 1,100 to 200. It was even more difficult to choose the award winners,” Deyling said.
Alex Stelioes-Wills, MUW’s gallery director invites the community to visit the exhibition on display through March 17 in the department’s Eugenia Summer Gallery each day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. The exhibit is free and open to the public.
