July 12, 2012 (Jackson) Belhaven violin performance major, Jocelyn Zhu, competed and performed at the Masterworks Festival in Indiana. The Masterworks Festival is a Christian summer arts festival sponsored by The Christian Performing Artist Fellowship and hosts some of the top musicians from around the country.
Zhu competed with 55 other violin students in the Concerto Competition and was one of four finalists in the competition for her age group. Song Xie, Associate Professor of Music, said, "Congratulations to Jocelyn for her outstanding performance in reaching the finals. She represented Belhaven University well in this very tough competition.
Zhu also participated in the Festival Orchestra Program and performed a finalist concert and violin concert for the public. “We praise the Lord for the excellent performance Jocelyn and the other students gave. It was truly a great concert to end the festival.”
Zhu is a senior and recently won a national audition to play with the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra.
