October 25, 2012 (Jackson) - The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra’s (MSO) leading cellist, Mr. Bennett Randman, will join with faculty from Belhaven’s Music Department for the second installation of the Preston Chamber Music Series: An Evening of Diamonds. Dr. Stephen Sachs, pianist and Mr. Song Xie, violinist, will perform with Randman on Tuesday, October 30 at 7:30 p.m. in the Concert Hall.

The performers will present a night filled with classical music from both Mozart and Tchaikovsky. This evening of musical melodies will come from two of history’s greatest piano trios composed: Piano Trio in B-flat Major, by Mozart and Piano Trio in A Minor, by Tchaikovsky.

“The juxtaposition of Mozart’s Piano Trio in B-Flat and Tchaikovsky’s Piano Trio in A Minor on the same program creates a fantastic contrast - delightful musical restraint coupled with blatant musical emotionalism. Come and be both delighted and overwhelmed as this sensational program is presented,” said Belhaven Music Chair and Pianist, Dr. Stephen Sachs.

General admission will be $10 (one ticket gains admission to the entire Fall Semester Series) and $5 for seniors. Students get in free with ID. Admission is free for Belhaven faculty, staff, students and their immediate families. The doors open at 7:00 p.m.
