February 10, 2014 (Jackson) - Curtains - A Musical will debut at Belhaven’s Blackbox Theatre on February 13-22. Based on the book by Rupert Holmes and set in 1959, this musical is a backstage murder mystery that is set in Boston, Massachusetts. The story starts when the untalented star of Robin Hood of the Old West is murdered during her opening night curtain call. The job of solving the murder falls to undercover musical theatre fan and police detective, Lt. Frank Coiffi. He sets out to solve the case, as he also finds love, while trying to not get murdered before the reopening of the show.
John Kander is the composer for Curtains - A Musical with lyrics by Fred Ebb. The director of this musical is faculty member Stewart Hawley. Choreography is from dance faculty member Laura Morton and music direction is by Dr. Rebecca Geihsler.
This musical is free for all Belhaven students, faculty and immediate families. General admission will be $10 and only $5 for all seniors and non-Belhaven students. Performance times include 7:30 p.m. on February 13-21 and 2:00 p.m. matinees on February 15 and 22.
