March 31, 2014 (Jackson) - The Student Invitational Art Exhibition is the centerpiece of the year for the Belhaven Visual Art Department and will showcase a variety of artwork from freshmen to seniors. Students are working hard to have their work selected for display at the art premiere.
"For visual arts majors, the student invitational show is the climax of the year,” said Dr. Melissa Hause, Associate Professor of Art History. “It reflects months of intense effort on the part of the students, developing and honing their skills in studio classes and independent artistic processes."
This annual exhibition will run from April 5 through May 3 and will highlight a wide range of styles and media including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed media. Admission is free.
The opening reception for the art exhibit will be at the Gallery in Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center on Saturday, April 5 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. This is just one of the many exciting events from Belhaven’s School of the Arts.
