November 14, 2014 (Jackson) - The DOXA Dance Concert on November 20-21 will highlight the creative choreography and performances of emerging students from the Belhaven Dance Department. Cynthia Newland, Dance Department Chair, said, “Our students take this opportunity to display unique dances showcasing their craftsmanship developed during their compositional and choreographic studies.”
DOXA, which means “praise” in Greek, is a student led dance organization where members create and perform original works. The students also use dance as a ministry to others in the community. This year's concert will feature the choreographed works from the following students:
Rachel Ellis - "Absolved"
Abigail Stauffer - "If I Stay"
Emily Davis - "Voices"
Melody Stowe - "Assured"
Sarah Allen - "Finger Painted Memories"
The DOXA Dance Concert will be held at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center at 7:30 p.m. General admission is $2 and free for children under 12. Admission is free for all Belhaven faculty, staff and students.
