March 17, 2014 (Jackson) - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored Belhaven alum Andrew Camenisch (’98) at the annual Scientific and Technical Awards Presentation on February 15 at The Beverly Hills Hotel.
Awards in19 different scientific and technical achievements were presented to 52 individual professionals in the movie industry. Belhaven’s Camenisch along with David Cardwell and Tibor Madjar were honored with the Technical Achievement award for the concept and design of Mudbox software. Mudbox is a 3D painting and sculpting tool and was first used in designing Peter Jackson’s King Kong. Camenisch received his Bachelor of Arts in Art at Belhaven University in 1998 and is also known for his work as lead sculptor for the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
