December 7, 2015 (Atlanta, Ga.) - Students from Belhaven's Atlanta campus will celebrate commencement on December 12, 2015. The graduation ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Presbyterian Church, 1978 Mount Vernon Road.
Emma Morris, Dean of Faculty at Belhaven's Atlanta campus, will be the commencement speaker this year. Morris began her corporate experience as a systems engineer and salesperson at IBM. After leaving IBM, she co-founded her first technology company, Ernst & Whinney, and later established a national supply chain around the company's product. Morris then worked with MSA, a public software company where she served as vice president of marketing, logistics and strategy. After the sale of MSA, she served as a consultant in the technology community. While running her consulting firm, she also served as founding CEO of three technology startup companies. She has been named by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as one of the most influential technology executives in the city.
As a consultant and executive coach, Morris worked with organizations to extract their greatest potential from products, partners and people during times of transition such as start-up, rapid growth, mergers or restructuring. She provides leadership as a strategist, facilitator and executive advisor. Her client list includes companies on the latest 50 Fastest Growing Private Companies list and Atlanta's 50 to Watch, as well as companies in the Fortune 500.
More recently, Morris has facilitated a Christian CEO roundtable where she helps other Christian CEOs live out their business as mission objectives. She continues to be a sought-after speaker, teacher, and leader in higher education, technology and business as mission.
She has experienced the world of higher education as a business professor at Belhaven University, Point University, Tennessee Temple and the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Morris earned a B.A. in French from Emory University and an M.B.A. from the University of South Carolina. She and John, her husband of 40 years, are avid cyclists and travelers.
