February 13, 2015 (Jackson) - The Creative Writing Department will host writer, poet and alum Adie Smith ('11) on Thursday, February 19, 5 p.m. in the Student Center Theatre. Smith will read from works in progress and talk with students about her experience as a writer and poet.
A New Mexico native, she earned a BFA in Creative Writing and then a MFA in Poetry from Seattle Pacific University in 2014.Her work has appeared in Ruminate, Rock & Sling and Stone Highway Review.In 2011, she won the McCabe Poetry Prize, sponsored by Ruminate and judged by Naomi Shihab Nye, current Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets. This event is free and open to the public. Doors open at 4:30 p.m.
