February 4, 2015 (Jackson) - The Higher Education Appreciation Day, Working for Academic Excellence (HEADWAE) will honor Dr. Angela Gaddis, Chair and Associate Professor of Social Work, for her contributions in promoting academic excellence in Mississippi higher education. She will take part in the State Capital Awards Luncheon on February 17 that will celebrate all of the 2014-2015 HEADWAE recipients.
Dr. Gaddis is the perfect example of a HEADWAE honoree, said Dr. Dennis Watts, Associate Provost. She not only has a deep understanding and knowledge within the discipline of social work, but she also has an abiding love for her students. Because of her dedication, Belhaven's social work graduates are prepared to truly minister in their professions.
HEADWAE was established by the State Council of Institutions of Higher Learning and honors an outstanding faculty member from each institution of the Mississippi Association of Colleges. The appreciation day, hosted by the Legislature each year, is the Legislature's way of saying "thank you" to faculty for their commitment to the future of Mississippi.
Dr. Gaddis's fellow faculty members nominated her on the areas of teaching, research and professional service. The Legislature based their selection on the criteria provided by the faculty members.
