April 24, 2015 (Jackson) - The Sports Administration Department and School of Business welcomed the Executive Directors of the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) and the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) to speak with students in Belhaven's Governing Bodies in Sports class.
Don Hinton of MHSAA and Shane Blanton of MAIS answered questions from students about how their organizations function and their impact on high school athletics in the state of Mississippi from both a public and private school perspective.“We were excited to offer this unique opportunity for our students to engage in dialogue with these two very important leaders in the field of sports administration”, said Dr. Howard Bartee Jr., Chair and Assistant Professor Sports Administration Department.
“With many of our students being former athletes in public and private school sports associations, this event gives them a deeper understand of what we have discussed in class and how it operates in a broader spectrum and on an executive level”.
