April 21, 2015 (Jackson) - The Sports Administration Department and School of Business will present the 4th Annual Belhaven University Capstone Conference of Sports, Education, Religion and Ethics on April 29.
A total of 40 sports administration students from the Strategic Management in Sports Administration class will give their presentations from their senior capstone projects. For the first time, the class incorporated a complete 10-week, step-by-step research paper process. They utilizing APA cited research topic information and weekly virtual discussions into their capstone projects. At the conference, each student will be available to answer questions as it relates to how sports, education, religion and ethics are intertwined in their pursuits toward their career aspirations.
“As we enter the fourth year of this capstone event, the students in this Strategic Management class have not only excelled on the field of play, but within the classroom as well”, said Dr. Howard Bartee Jr., Chair and Assistant Professor of the Sports Administration Department. “With the issues and trends in sports administration, I have stressed to this class the very important aspect of knowing what is going on within their expected career field. When positions open, they will be prepared both academically and spiritually to step into their career with confidence.”
This free event will start at 11 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. in the McCravey-Triplett Student Center and is open to faculty, staff, coaches, sports administrators, students, former internship supervisors and invited guests of the participants. This event will also feature a guest speaker as well as the presentation of two student awards, including the Athletic Studies Scholar Service Award and the Sigma Alpha Omicron Leadership Service Award.
