February 17, 2015 (Jackson) - The Belhaven Theatre Department's Godspell will premiere on this Saturday, February 21 and then resume on February 25-28.
In this musical directed by Theatre Department Chair, Dr. Elissa Sartwell, a small group of people help Jesus Christ tell different parables by using a wide variety of games, storytelling techniques and hefty dose of comic timing. Godspell has an eclectic blend of songs ranging in style from pop to vaudeville that is employed as the story of Jesus comes vibrantly to life.
Dr. Sartwell said, “Godspell has everything you're looking for in a musical -- catchy songs, fun choreography and lots of humor. But at its heart, Godspell is a story of redemption. Expect to laugh, cry, and leave the theatre with a renewed understanding of what Love is all about.”
