October 9, 2017 (Jackson, Miss.) - Into the Woods, considered by many as a modern musical masterpiece, will premiere at the Blackbox Theatre on October 20, 2017. This storybook fantasy is a musical journey with an original story based on several Brothers Grimm fairy tales. The TonyAward-winning book by James Lapine and score by Stephen Sondheim, combine to tell an enchanting and touching story. The musical is directed by Dr. David Sollish, Belhaven's Theatre Department chair.

The story follows a baker and his wife who wish to have a child. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch's curse, the two set-off on a journey to break the curse. Everyone's wish is granted, but the consequences of their actions return to haunt them later with disastrous results.
