October 31, 2017 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven's concert choir, chorale and chamber orchestra, under the direction of Mr. Christopher Phillips, will present Dan Forrest's “Jubilate Deo.” This free concert will be held in Belhaven's Center for the Arts Concert Hall on November 10, 7:30 p.m.
“Jubilate Deo” brings to life the global aspect of the traditional Psalm 100 text, “O be joyful in the Lord, all ye lands,” by setting it in seven different languages and drawing from a wide spectrum of musical influences. Each movement combines some characteristics of its language group's musical culture with the composer's own musical language. The result is a global celebration of joy as all the earth sings as one.
This is just one of the many exciting events from Belhaven's School of the Arts. Check out our complete listing of art events in this year's Arts Ablaze publication for more plays, dance and music concerts, poetry readings and gallery exhibits.
