March 2, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven has a new student chapter for the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). The purpose of ACHE is to encourage learning and development for effective leadership in healthcare organizations.
Members will discover career alternatives and job opportunities as well as form connections with healthcare executive groups, giving Belhaven students more academic and career opportunities. Chapter members will also enjoy a forum for dialogue between undergraduate, graduate and faculty in the healthcare management program.
Being a member of ACHE is all about networking, said Dr. Susan M. Duett, Belhaven's Director of Health Administration. Students will be able to meet with current healthcare executives from across the U.S. who may one day be their employer. We want to give Belhaven students an edge when they graduate by introducing them to executives in the field.
Members will continue to have an edge with scholarships, essay competitions, online career services, job listings, and access to informative resources such asHealth Executivemagazine.
ACHE membership is open to all Belhaven students and faculty who have an interest in healthcare management. The chapter plans to meet once or twice per semester on the main Jackson campus.
Meetings will include a local executive member who will share from their own experiences and give helpful advice toward a career in healthcare. The chapter's first meeting is Tuesday, March 6 at 6 p.m. in Irby Complex 214. Mr. Chandler Ewing, CEO of Select Specialty Hospital, will be the guest speaker.
