March 29, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - The Student Invitational Art Exhibition is the centerpiece of the year for Belhaven's Visual Art Department, and showcases a variety of artwork from freshmen to seniors. This annual exhibit is juried and highlights a wide range of styles and media including drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media.
The opening reception will be at the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Gallery on Saturday, April 7, 2 - 4 p.m.
Students work hard to have their art selected for the premiere. This unique exhibit is a direct result from the department's practicum period; a part of the year when visual art majors engage in concentrated, individualized pursuits of the art-making process. Practicum helps each student focus on and identify their own unique artistic abilities, while preparing them for a career in the arts.
This art exhibition will be on display April 7 - May 12 and is open to the public. Gallery hours include Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
