May 8, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - Graphic design major Erin Burt earned top honors at the 2018 American Advertising Awards, formerly the ADDYs. Her work on the Gotham Typeface Brochure earned her a Silver ADDY, considered a second-place award.
"We are so proud of this accomplishment for Erin, said Gigi Turner, chair and associate professor of Belhaven's Graphic Design Department. She is a very talented designer with a bright future ahead of her.
Burt, a senior from Detroit, Mich., has already earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communications in 2015, and returned to Belhaven to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. After graduating with her communications degree, she worked in the Jackson's news industry for WJTV Channel 12. She hopes to work for a magazine and operate her own business, one day.
This competition is the advertising industry's largest and most representative competition, attracting over 40,000 entries every year from local club competitions.
