January 26, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - TheGraphic Design Departmentwill host a week-long exhibit featuring the work of student designers. The exhibit will begin with an opening reception February 10, 2-4 p.m. in the Bitsy Irby Visual Art and Dance Center Art Gallery.
This is the sixth annual show for student designers, featuring a collection of the best work from the year, and it will include various print, packaging, web/multi-media and brand design exploration. This show is a juried exhibition, in which judges from prestigious design studios and advertising agencies select the work to be seen in the show.
This juried show is an important step in our curriculum because it offers the students a chance to hear from professional designers and if their work is relevant to the industry and up to standards at the present time, said Gigi Turner, assistant professor and chair of graphic design at Belhaven. It is rare to see a comprehensive graphic design exhibition in this area, and this show gives the general public a sense of what graphic design is about and where it is going.
