January 16, 2018 (Jackson, MIss.) - Belhaven continues to provide quality programs for aspiring business professionals and is now offering a public administration concentration for both online Master of Business in Administration (MBA) and Master of Science in Leadership (MSL). This specialized concentration is designed for students interested in business leadership, but with a strong focus on financial management.
School of Business Dean Dr. Chip Mason said, “We are excited about bringing business and leadership principles into public service with our new public administration concentrations in our graduate business and leadership programs. The Belhaven motto is 'to serve and not be served,' and we believe our graduates will be well-equipped to serve the tax payers in a cost-effective manner.”
The MBA with a Public Administration concentration can offer graduates greater flexibility to work in either the public or private sectors and focuses on the skills needed in the corporate world such as finance, economics, marketing, and accounting. The public administration component of the degree involves topics such as government budgeting, ethics, public law, and public policy.
Students who choose to earn a MSL with a Public Administration concentrationhave flexibility to work in either the public, private or non-profit sectors. The program focuses on the leadership skills needed in careers such as human resource management, coaching, conflict management, and team building. The emphasis on servant leadership throughout the curriculum is particularly well suited for a life of public service.
