February 21, 2018 (Jackson, MIss.) - Belhaven junior Aliah McPhaul is the2018National Championfor Women's Indoor Shot Put. She competed in the 2018 NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Cedarville, Ohio over the weekend. She secured her top spot after a throw of 12.72 meters, setting a school record for shot put.
McPhaul also competed in the weight throw, earning the silver medal with a throw of 14.17 meters. That mark also set a new Belhaven school record in the weight throw category.
This is the University's first national championship in the sport of track & field, and the first since 2012 when Belhaven's Men Soccer team won the NAIA Men's Soccer title in Montgomery, Alabama.
