April 10, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven dance faculty and guest artist are collaborating for the 2018 Spring Dance Concert that will showcase new and exciting choreography. The performance in Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Studio Theatre will include a range of styles from classical and contemporary ballet to traditional and contemporary modern dance.
This year's concert will featureStill Crossing by renowned choreographer Liz Lerman. This intergenerational community dance, commissioned for the 1986 bicentennial of the Statue of Liberty, includes participants of all ages and abilities.The spring concert will also feature an improvisational dance work with live music that was inspired by a week-long residency with Nancy Stark Smith, a founder of Contact Improvisation.
Erin Rockwell, Associate Dance Professor, will present her choreographic work:Imag[(I)n]e.This piece was selected by adjudicators to be a part of the 2018 American College Dance Association's South Region Gala Concert in Natchitoches, Louisiana.

General admission is $10 and $5 for seniors and students. Admission is free for Belhaven faculty, staff, students and their immediate families.
