September 17, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - The inspirational play, These Shining Lives, will premiere September 26 at Belhaven's Blackbox Theatre. Produced, directed, and performed by students and faculty from Belhaven's Theatre Department, These Shining Lives chronicles the strength and determination of women considered expendable in their day.
“These Shining Lives is a poignant, lyrical play based on the real-life story of the Radium Girls of the 1920s, who nobly fought back against the very corporation that poisoned them," said Associate Professor of Theatre Dr. Elissa Sartwell. “This play is sad at times and funny at times, but it is not tragic, because it ultimately points us to what really matters in our lives: the people we love.”
Belhaven Theatre Department Chair Dr. David Sollish said, “These Shining Lives is a wonderful play to kick-off our 2018-2019 season with engaging performances from a cast of nine theatre students, a production molded by a superior craftsman in the art of direction, Dr. Elissa Sartwell, and an incredibly creative crew of designers and technicians who help to bring the story to life!We hope to see you all at the show!”
