August 30, 2018 (Jackson, Miss.) - Dr. Yusufu Jinkiri, associate professor of business administration, and Mr. Claude Peter Hays III, assistant professor of business administration, were recently inducted into Belhaven's Legacy of Learning. This prestigious group of esteemed professors have devoted twenty years or more of service to the University. A plaque with the professors' name and favorite Bible verse was added to the walkway at the Commons.
Dr. Jinkiri earned a Bachelor of Science from Ahmadu Bello in Nigeria and a Master of Arts in Theology from Wheaton College. He then earned a Ph. D. in Economics from the University of Connecticut. Dr. Jinkiri joined Belhaven's faculty in 1998 and has taught economics for the University's adult and traditional programs.
He has contributed his expertise for an international business textbook that was published by McGraw Hill.Dr. Jinkiri had the honor of presenting a study on moral absolutes at a conference atJackson State University.
Dr. Jinkiri has represented Belhaven's School of Business at the annual College Ethics Symposium in Hilton Head, South Carolina. Phi Beta Lambda has honored him with the Business Faculty Teacher of the Year award. Dr. Jinkiri and his family attend Riverwood Bible Church in Jackson where he also serves as one of the elders of the church.
Mr. Hays earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in accounting and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi. Upon graduation, he earned his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
He spent seven years with the national public accounting firm of Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. He then served in various senior management positions for publicly held and private corporations in the mortgage banking, real estate, healthcare, and construction industries.
Mr. Hays entered the education profession as an adjunct faculty member at Mississippi College where he taught several accounting courses. In 1998, he joined the faculty at Belhaven and during his tenure he has taught courses in accounting, finance, and general business in the adult and traditional programs. He was awarded the Belhaven Faculty Ambassador Award for the Aspire Degree program in 2005.
