February 26, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) - The intersection between nursing and spiritual care can be a blurry line for many. The Alumni Nursing Education Conference, hosted by Belhaven's School of Nursing, will share insight and research on how a person of faith, working in the nursing profession, provides care for both body and soul.
“Spiritual Care from a Christian World View Perspective: What is the Evidence?” is happening in the Dr. Billy Kim International Center on Saturday, April 6, 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. The conference will explore a growing body of evidence for spiritual care in nursing. Participants will be able to identify appropriate nursing interventions and explore how a person of faith provides authentic spiritual care.
Dr. Amy Rex Smith, R.N., will be the special speaker for the conference. She has been a professor at the School of Nursing at Belhaven University since January of 2015. Known for her passion for nursing and her engaging teaching style, Dr. Smith is internationally recognized for her work in nursing spiritual care. She practices as a Faith Community Nurse at Common Ground Church in West Jackson, Mississippi.
