April 30, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) Belhaven University launched the Keep the Waters Flowing campaign to raise funds for student scholarships. The flowing waters in Belhaven's iconic fountain represents the University's mission of preparing students to flow like living water into the world as servant leaders. The fountain that makes our students' education possible is the flow of generous gifts for scholarships.
Director of Advancement and Alumni Relations Frank Laws said, “This campaign is about raising funds for student scholarships and the money raised goes to the annual fund. In a world defined by divisiveness and self-centeredness, we are producing the type of graduates that the world desperately needs. The annual fund allows us to give scholarships that makes Belhaven more affordable to these students.”
The campaign has a goal of $150,000 by June 30, 2019 to provide much needed scholarships for the next wave of students.
“If you look around the campus, you will see an impressive number of new and renovated buildings,” said Laws. “The new construction provides up-to-date labs and classrooms, attractive meeting spaces and comfortable housing. These were largely made possible by large gifts from single donors. This campaign allows people to participate in the mission of Belhaven who might not see themselves as being able to fund a building on campus.”
Laws points out that right now gifts are being matched by a generous alumnus. “Your gifts are doubled! For those of us who desire to have a positive impact on the culture of Mississippi, our country and the world beyond it. This campaign allows everyone to play a part.”
