October 23, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) - The University's finest classical musicians will take the stage for the 2019 Belhaven Symphony Orchestra Concert on Friday, November 8, 7:30 p.m. in the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.
Faculty and students fromBelhaven's String Chamber Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra will showcase Beethoven's monumental Masterworks: “Eroica” Symphony No. 3 Op. 55. The free concert will also feature the famous overture “Ride of the Valkyries” by Richard Wagner.
Belhaven Music Department Chair Dr. Doran Bugg said, “The music, selected by our maestro Mr. Song Xie, guarantees an incredible experience for seasoned music lovers, as well as the novice who is ready to be introduced to the king of the instrumental jungle,the orchestra!Each entertaining masterwork programmed is considered professional-level symphony repertoire, presented by Belhaven musicians who have been diligently working since August to prepare such ambitious selections.
