March 18, 2019 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven's Theatre Department will present The Secret Garden, April 5-13 at the Blackbox Theatre. This performance from the classic children's book is reimagined into a musical with book and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon.
The story is set in Yorkshire and centers around 11-year-old orphan Mary Lennox. She returns to Yorkshire to live with her embittered, reclusive uncle Archibald and his sickly son Colin. The estate's many wonders include a magic garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies and the Dreamers, spirits from Mary's past who guide her through her new life. The Secret Garden includes themes of forgiveness and renewal.
Tickets for general admission are $10 and $5 for students and senior citizens. Admission is free for Belhaven faculty, staff, students and their immediate families. The doors open at 7 p.m. Emailboxoffice@belhaven.eduor call 601-965-7026 to purchase your tickets today.
