January 11, 2019 (Jackson, Miss) - Thornton Wilder's The Skin of Our Teeth will premiere February 15-23, 2019 at Belhaven's Blackbox Theatre. The play, which won a Pulitzer Prize for drama, is directed by Elissa Sartwell, associate professor of theatre.
The Skin of Our Teeth is a three-part allegory about the life of mankind, centering on the Antrobus family of the fictional town of Excelsior, New Jersey. Wilder dramatizes the struggle of humankind to survive and focuses on the family unit to make his point. The settings are contemporary and each act is structured around a historic catastrophe: the Ice Age, the Flood, and modern war.
