March 26, 2021 (Jackson, Miss.) - The Belhaven University Composers Forum will present two interactive concerts of newly-minted compositions and unique improvisations. The first Student Composers Concert XXIV is April 6, 7:30 p.m. and is part of the FIKA event at the Shoe Bird Café.
This second free concert is April 13, 7:30 p.m. at the Center for the Arts Concert Hall.
Both performances will feature new music and improvisations from Ian Edwards, Zach Mayberry, Josiah Pervis, Cristan Trexler, Mary Lynn Wolfe, and guest dancer Kathleen Flaccomio.
Dr. Andrew Sauerwein, Belhaven's Chair of the Music Department, said, “The Belhaven Composers Forum invites you to participate in a new approach to making music. Come early, enjoy some refreshing community, and participate in an adventurous and engaging performance by Belhaven's talented student composers.”
Masks and social distancing are required. Seating is limited for the families of student performers and are available by advance reservation.
