October 25, 2021 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven University's Fall Dance Concert 2021 will showcase new choreography and include works from guest artists Kevin Jenkins, Frankie Lee Peterson III, and Caleb Mitchell.
Chair and Professor of Dance Krista Bower notes, The 2021 Fall Dance Concert features ballet and modern/contemporary dance works which highlight the strength, athleticism, and artistry of Belhaven University's Dance Ensemble and members of DOXA. Audiences will enjoy an inspiring evening of diverse choreography and captivating performances.
Jenkins created a contemporary ballet piece for the concert. He is a freelance choreographer who has worked with several companies across the country including State Street Ballet, St. Louis Ballet, San Diego Dance Theater, Dimensions Dance Theatre of Miami, Ballet Harford, Ballet 5:8, Ballet Forte, and Big Muddy Dance.
Peterson II created a modern/contemporary dance work for the performance. He has trained with Zion Dance Project, Springboard Danse Montreal, Shen Wei Dance Arts, and American Dance Festival. Mitchell's ballet piece, Joy, will be making a reappearance from the Spring Dance Concert 2021. Mitchell is a former Belhaven University Dance faculty member.
The Fall Dance Concert 2021 will be in the Bitsy Irby Visual Arts and Dance Center Studio and dates include:
November 5 at 7 p.m.
November 6 at 7 p.m.
November 12 at 7 p.m.
November 13 at 7 p.m.
General admission is $10 and $5 for seniors and non-Belhaven University students. Admission is free for all Belhaven faculty, students, and immediate family.
