March 25, 2021 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven University's Theatre Department will present a new adaptation of the classic Jane Austen novel "Pride and Prejudice." All of the wit and romance of Jane Austen's classic 1813 novel comes to life in this fast-paced and engaging new adaptation from Jon Jory.
"We all could benefit from some laughter, smiles, and joy right about now, and this production will provide our community an opportunity to engage with a favorite story in a new and refreshing way," said Professor and Chair of Theatre Department Dr. Elissa Sartwell. "This adaptation of Pride and Prejudices light, playful, and fresh. No stuffiness here!”
Pride and Prejudice will stream April 14-17 on Broadway On Demand. Streaming access through Broadway On Demand is $5 for all. Contact (601) 974-6478 for ticket reservations and streaming information.
Sartwell said, “As we did with our productions in the fall, we have taken a number of precautions to keep our actors safe during rehearsals and performances. All actors wear masks at all times, and the gloves worn by Regency-era dancers provide protection during the ball scenes."
