February 28, 2023 (Jackson, Miss.) - The Mississippi Humanities Council (MHC) awarded Dr. Jeff Brannon, Belhaven's Professor and Chair of Biblical Studies and Ministries Department, the prestigious 2023 Mississippi Humanities Council Teacher Award.
This special honor recognizes the contribution of humanities faculty at each of the Mississippi's colleges and universities.
Each honoree is required to deliver a public lecture of their choosing and relevant to their expertise. Brannon will give his presentation Monday, March 6 at 3:30 p.m.
His lecture, “Resurrection and Reign,” will be in the Dr. Billy Kim International Center and is open and free to the public.
Brannon received a B.S. from Samford University, M.Div. from Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, and Ph.D. from University of Edinburgh.
All award recipients will be recognized at the Mississippi Humanities Council's annual awards banquet in the spring. The Mississippi Humanities Council is a private nonprofit corporation funded by Congress through the National Endowment for the Humanities and provides public programs in traditional liberal arts disciplines to serve nonprofit groups in Mississippi.
