Belhaven University Theatre Presents Pulitzer Prize-Winning Play "Doubt: A Parable"
August 23, 2024 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven University’s Theatre Department will present John Patrick Shanley’s critically acclaimed play, “Doubt: A Parable,” from September 11-14 at the Blackbox Theatre. Directed by Dr. Elissa Sartwell, Chair of the Theatre Department, this powerful drama won both the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best New Play in 2005.
Set in a parochial school in the 1960’s, “Doubt” tells the gripping story of Sister Aloysius, the school principal, who becomes suspicious of the intentions of the young Father Flynn. As tension mounts, the play delves into the complexities of suspicion, morality, and the unsettling uncertainty of truth. Audiences are left to grapple with the challenging question: what do we do when we are not certain?
Content Advisory: Please be advised that this play addresses sensitive topics, including allegations of abuse between a priest and a minor student.
