Belhaven University Announces New Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry
September 4, 2024 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven University has launched a new Bachelor of Science in Applied Chemistry degree, aimed at preparing students for employment as chemistry laboratory technicians.
The program emphasizes hands-on experience, offering enhanced coursework in analytical chemistry and programming, which equips graduates for careers in environmental testing, pharmaceutical quality control, and medical testing.
Dr. Brandon Magers, Chair of the Department of Chemistry & Physics, highlighted the program's practical focus. “This degree sets itself apart by providing students with the skills needed for diverse and impactful careers in chemistry. Our curriculum is designed to ensure that graduates are ready to enter the workforce as skilled laboratory technicians.”
Belhaven University Provost Dr. Audrey Kelleher added, “This new degree is a testament to Belhaven's commitment to providing education that is both academically rigorous and relevant to today’s job market. Our Applied Chemistry program not only equips students with the technical skills needed to excel in laboratory settings but also integrates Christian faith, exploring how science is a study of God’s creation.”
