Belhaven’s Theatre Department to Present Sarah Ruhl's Eurydice

January 23, 2025 (Jackson, Miss.) - Belhaven University’s Theatre Department will bring Sarah Ruhl’s Eurydice to life this February, offering audiences a contemporary reimagining of the classic myth of Orpheus. The production will run February 20-March 1 in the University’s Blackbox Theatre.

Directed by Elissa Sartwell, Eurydice invites audiences to experience the story from its heroine's perspective. The play follows Eurydice as she navigates an early death on her wedding day, a journey to the underworld, and a poignant reunion with her father. Through inventive storytelling and visually stunning effects, Ruhl’s adaptation delivers a fresh and emotional take on love, loss, and memory.

The performance dates and times for Eurydice at Belhaven University include:

Evening Performances:
February 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and March 1 at 7 p.m.

Matinee Performances:
February 22 and March 1 at 2 p.m.

Tickets for Eurydice can be reserved starting one week before opening night by emailing boxoffice@belhaven.edu. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for seniors and Belhaven alumni, and complimentary for Belhaven students, faculty, and staff. Tickets will also be available at the door, subject to availability. Doors will open 30 minutes prior to each performance.
