Alumnus to Launch New Hotel with Exclusive Belhaven Partnership

March 18 (Ridgeland, Miss.) – Belhaven University alumnus Gabriel Prado ’13 is bringing new life to Jackson’s hospitality scene while giving back to his alma mater. As CEO and President of PraCon Global Investment Group, he is leading the renovation of the former Drury Inn into Prado Hotel and is celebrating his connection to Belhaven by offering an exclusive 40% discount to alumni, faculty, staff, students, and their families.

This special discount underscores his enduring ties to the university and aims to support its community with affordable accommodations, especially beneficial for families, students, and sports programs.

“Belhaven University shaped my career and my values,” said Prado. “This partnership is my way of giving back to the community that has given me so much. By providing discounted accommodations, I hope to support Belhaven families, students, and athletic programs that require affordable and high-quality lodging.”

Prado Hotel, proudly joining Choice Hotels’ Ascend Collection, represents a significant investment in both the property and the greater Jackson area. As the flagship of a projected 15 new locations this year, Prado Hotel is an emblem of upscale, distinctive lodging with a local touch. While renovations are scheduled to begin later this year, the hotel will remain open, and updates will include a modern, minimalist design with black-and-white aesthetics and fully renovated rooms.

Members of the Belhaven community can obtain the discount code through the Office of Advancement and Alumni. The hotel provides complimentary breakfast and dinner, ensuring visitors enjoy a convenient and welcoming stay.

Belhaven University leadership has expressed enthusiasm for the partnership and its impact on the university community. “Gabriel is a great example of the work and attitude that our alums exhibit, it’s a real joy to get to see and hear about work like this,” said Associate Vice President of Advancement Frank Laws. “As I have gotten to know the Prado family, I am grateful for their love for and promotion of the city of Jackson and the state of Mississippi.
