We will view auditions/portfolios at these conferences: Christians in Theatre Arts, Mississippi Theatre Association Annual Festival, and Southeastern Theatre Conference.
Eligibility Requirements
Student must gain clear admission to Belhaven University. This should be initiated through the Admission Department (see admission on the web or call 1-800-960-5940 for more information.)
Students wishing to be accepted into an emphasis program (Performance or Production) must audition according to guidelines below.

Audition & Portfolio Requirements
Students wishing to pursue the B.A. in Theatre do not need to audition for admission to the program, however, if a student wishes to be considered for a theatre scholarship, he/she will need to perform an audition or submit a portfolio for consideration. Scholarship auditions and/or portfolio reviews can be done in person or via digital/video submission. Contact BUtheatre@belhaven.edu or instructions for digital submissions.
Students wishing to pursue the BA in Theatre (Performance emphasis) must audition with three of the following.
- Comedic monologue, 45-90 seconds in length
- Dramatic monologue, 45-90 seconds in length
- Classical verse monologue, 1-2 minutes in length
- Excerpt from a musical song, 30-45 seconds in length*
This audition should be done in person on one of the dates listed above. Students who are unable to travel to campus on any of these dates should contact BUtheatre@belhaven.edu for instructions on alternate audition options.
NOTE: You will need to provide your own accompaniment. We recommend bringing a Bluetooth speaker to use with your phone.
If you're pursuing the B.A. in Theatre (Production Emphasis), you must present a portfolio either in person during one of our Audition Days or virtually. Theatre Scholarships
In addition to our Visit Scholarship, you can supplement your financial aid award with an academic scholarship from Belhaven's School of the Arts!
To qualify, you must be accepted for admission, submit your high school GPA and test scores, and complete your FAFSA. We'll assess your scholarship potential along with your audition or portfolio review when you're on campus for Arts Discover Day.
