The Singing Christmas Tree: A Beloved Belhaven Tradition
This annual event, started in 1933, is believed to be the world's oldest outdoor singing Christmas tree tradition. It’s performed at the Belhaven Bowl stadium the first weekend in December, and we encourage all alumni to participate — actual singing talent not required!
The Belhaven Alma Mater
We Shall Not Wholly Part
Belhaven, like a faithful presence shall thy beauty be
Thru distant years to breathe the essence of our love for thee.
We love thy stately pine tree, thy stainless Cherokee,
Like that clear glow so may we grow as strong and stainless we.
Belhaven, Belhaven, we shall not wholly part,
This dear green hill shall bind us still to God and thee in heart.
So oft along thy tranquil lake, among thy wooded lanes,
We've known a peace no years can take, a peace no time profanes.
Thru other paths less lovely, thru other ways more steep,
Where service leads for man-kind's needs thy calmness shall we keep.
Belhaven, Belhaven, we shall not wholly part,
This dear green hill shall bind us still to God and thee in heart.
